Procurement Specialist

Position Summary:    

Work with R&D, Project Management Office and Laboratory Operations to issue purchase orders. Assess suppliers in quality.  Responsible for contracts for critical reagents and equipment, and ensure back up vendors are established and qualified.  Establish best practices for overseeing specimen procurement.  Establish relationships with vendors and negotiate contracts.  Must be able to work well with cross-functional teams, and must have a positive, can-do attitude.  Must enjoy working in a fast-growing, fast-paced diagnostic company.


Write and analyze requisitions, invoices, supply requests and supply orders.
Track, forecast and monitor inventory and needs
Establish bulk orders and pricing
Monitor, plan and adjust shipping schedules as needed
Negotiate with different suppliers for price, quality, timeliness and other factors.
Expedite and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
Procure biospecimens from third party vendors and maintain inventory based on R&D team needs
Price comparisons between vendors
Provide backup vendors for critical raw materials

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in finance, accounting or business administration required. Masters level preferred.
Positive, can-do attitude and leadership
Strong familiarity with project management software packages preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office and SharePoint
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work in cross-functional teams
Excellent communication skills
