We are currently sourcing a Section 508 Tester capable of leading IV&V and testing engagements for SW and HW systems including COTS products. The 508 Tester will develop IV&V approaches, based on an understanding of the process and documents supported by the client and will work with Program teams to ensure Section 508 is properly accounted for in each phase.
The candidates will support all Testing and IV&V efforts within a diverse and collaborative development environment to ensure that all development efforts meet DHS standards (SELC) and fulfill the specified requirements, design and performance capabilities.
In additional to providing technical support, the 508 tester shall also be responsible for:
Working with Solution Delivery design and developers to ensure that Section 508 has been incorporated correctly into software and web applications
Testing software, internet applications and hardware as needed for Section 508 compliance
Participating in formal and informal reviews at pre-determined points throughout the project life cycle
Developing an understanding of client test approach and management plan
A minimum of 2 years of experience in the following:
2-3 years’ experience with Section 508 testing based on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) for accessibility
Experience with Section 508 Automation tools (Deque WorldSpace Sync, Compliance Sheriff, IE Accessibility Checker, or equivalent)
IV&V 508 testing, especially supporting multiple systems/releases simultaneously
Identifying issues and collaborating with project/development teams to resolve
Assessing/developing EIT Plans, Remediation plans, Accommodation plans, VPATs, etc.
Testing electronic documents (PDF, Word, Excel and Power Point) for Section 508 compliance
Advanced knowledge of tools like WAT (Web Accessibility Toolbar), Object Inspector, Aria, and Adobe Acrobat
Developing test documentation such as Test Plans, scripts and test results reports
Experience providing outreach, training and technical assistance to project/development teams, including helping/mentoring teams to understand how to comply with the Section 508 provisions
Experience identifying, tracking/reporting and assisting project teams to resolve Section 508 issues/findings
DHS experience preferred, USCIS experience a plus
Experience performing Section 508 testing using current DHS OAST
Standards and applicable tools: DHS OAST trusted tester certification, 3.x or later
