Java Programmer at Wright-Patterson AFB
Will be involved with or responsible for providing software maintenance for an existing software solution for a federal government client using a customer mandated formal software development life cycle. The software solution is centrally hosted at a government data center and is composed of a web based user interface, utilizing Java and an Oracle database. The software sustainment/development work is accomplished by a small development team utilizing modern development techniques such as code reviews, unit tests, software configuration management, and integration, regression, and performance testing. The successful candidate will:
Analyze software deficiencies and new requirements for impacts to current software application
Perform software development
Assist in testing the web application in both unit and module testing
Support impromptu technical consulting JADs, TIMs, and other meetings
You will support design, development and testing of IT solutions using industry standards.
The Java Programmer typically contributes to the maintenance of both front end (browser) and back end (application and database server) software and assists with data collection and research activities when assigned. May perform data entry (enter, transcribe, verify), prepare data for analysis, and organize and/or present (written and verbally) reports of findings.
Experience with Java EE 6 including JSP, Enterprise Beans, and Faces (Primefaces additional plus)
2 years Relational Database experience including SQL
Experience with formal software development life cycle processes, deliverable generation, and reviews.
Ability to work within a team environment and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and work within strict timeframes in a changing environment
Ability to grasp abstract concepts and act upon understanding them.
Ability to take initiative
Proficient in the use of standard MS office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Current National Agency Check with Local Agency and Credit Check (NACLC) or ability to obtain one
Bonus to have:
Experience with PL/SQL Programming
Experience working in structured environments using Version Control software
Knowledge of current USAF Standard Desktop configurations and troubleshooting
