Great client of our seeking a Web Content Writer in the Rockville, MD area.


Web Content Writer to support a government customer with creating and maintain content for various public-facing forums including publicly facing websites at NIH. The Ideal candidate will be responsible for developing content that reflects and serves government customer’s strategic goals and mission. This individual will also be responsible for collaborating with the agency’s Communications Team and others as needed, to develop and maintain content. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional writer, strategist, collaborator, and passionate about developing effective content that consistently conveys the agency’s message to the public.


Task Requirements


1.Write science and health content for agency website, white papers, speeches, press releases, Congressional testimonies, blogs, social media channels, video scripts,etc.. involving the translation of biological science, clinical medicine, health promotion, and related fields into clear, comprehensible language for persons unfamiliar with those subjects.   Content will be for a variety of readers, from scientific to lay audiences

2.Provide full range of editorial support; edit text for clarity and accuracy; consult on and/or select illustrative graphics/images to accompany written materials.

3.Collaboration with the Communications Department as well as all other departments to develop content as described above.

4.Follow Plain Language Guidelines when creating content for the agency, across product lines, and departments.


Required Skills

         Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science or science writing-related field. 
         Minimum five (5) years of related scientific writing/editing experience.
         Demonstrated experience writing health and science content for Websites and online publications directed to a broad audience as well as to scientific audiences.
         Demonstrated science writing/ science policy background
         Understanding of GPO, AP and AMA styles, good grasp on appropriate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
         Knowledge of Pub Med
         Knowledge of Powerpoint slide software, desktop publishing a plus.   
         Experience communicating technical ideas to a general audience, and translating scientific language into plain language
