Workers Compensation Specialist

Workers’ Compensation Program Specialist 

Review accident/injury investigation report for pertinent information for CA-1
Record/Log all CA-1, CA-2, CA-2a, and CA-7 claims
Review claims for completeness and accuracy

Interview employees and supervisors as necessary to assure completeness and accuracy of claims
Insert missing material in claim forms
Call or e-mail the employee to confirm if they do not want COP
Determine if claim should be controverted.  If claim should be controverted, prepare letter to be attached to CA-1

Submit claims to appropriate OWCP Office
Monitor OWCP claim process through the Agency Query System (AQS)
Contact OWCP to obtain claim number or find out status (10-14 days after CA-1 submittal).
Notify the claimant of the claim number and the need for the claimant to notify their medical provider(s)

Prepare and maintain COP log for each employee (calendar)
Maintain the workers’ compensation file system
Submit miscellaneous materials to OWCP as necessary
Communicate with OWCP
Communicate with OWCP Claims Examiners as necessary
Communicate with employees and supervisors as necessary
Monitor the case management process for all temporary or permanent disability claims
Maintain the Injury Records system

Prepare a quarterly Lost Production Day Rate report
Provide a comprehensive annual summary of injuries recorded in that calendar year

Send quarterly email to verify lost time injuries to employees and compile Table for submittal by 15th of each quarterly ending month
Update Long Term Disability Log
Prepare annual reports on injuries and OWCP claims.

Strong writing and computer skills are required for this position.
