Project Scheduler


Project Control Specialist (PCS) will be responsible for developing and maintaining an integrated Master Schedule (IMS) consisting of hardware and software upgrades and installations for the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the principal entity responsible for science and technology innovation for the Department of the Navy.  The Project Control Specialist, working with various technical teams within ONR’s Command Information Office to develop project schedules for the selected projects, then consolidate each into an IMS, which will be owned by the Project Control Specialist to manage.  The PCS will be responsible for establishing the reporting methodology for tracking progress from each project team, then develop briefings and/or published updates for each project such that any deviations from the schedule are known as well as its overall impact to the IMS.  Then working with team leads and their staff facilitate the development of a corrective plan, which will be presented to the customer for concurrence and incorporate the updates into the IMS.   


The PCS will be required to attend end-user meetings where you will be involved in discussions related to proposed enhancements to the systems.  Based on these discussions and the information contained within the IMS, develop and present an impact assessment to the customer showing the impact of the proposed work on existing projects and personnel.  In all cases, the PCS will be responsible for maintaining and reporting on all activities within the Integration Master Schedule.  



Responsible to manage projects through the application of generally accepted project management principles, based in PMI disciplines

Responsible to develop comprehensive work schedules and to drive project execution to the schedule

Responsible to appropriately resource the project, through collaboration with impacted managers as well as collaborating with the customer based on their priorities.

Responsible to ensure the quality of the project through the management and control of project test results, and through the enforcement and execution of quality checkpoints and the formal sign-off of key project artifacts

Responsible for the coordination and communication between key project stakeholders, including planning meetings, execution meetings, and the creation of standardized project reporting

Ensure timelines and milestones are met and maintain integrity of the systems

Communicate effectively with stakeholders


Required Skills:

Minimum of six years of Project Manager experience leading technology software development projects in complex development environments with multiple types of development platforms.

Minimum of four years of Project Manager experience concurrently leading multiple software development projects of various sizes between 1,000 and 10,000 hours of development

Proficiency in the use of standard Project Management scheduling software, such as MS Project, Workbench, or equivalent.

Preferred Skills:

PMP or equivalent certification in Project Management disciplines

Experience managing projects including vendor and consulting resources

Skilled in Microsoft Suite Tool set including MS Project

Excellent customer presentation and communications skills

Excellent leadership and organizational skills
