Polycom Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•             Ability to understand IP Network Convergence and architect/articulate IP networks to facilitate successful transport of multiple types of video applications. Maintain a working knowledge of emerging trends in the videoconferencing industry as a whole.

•             Maintain a working knowledge of emerging trends in the UC industry as a whole.

•             Make pro-active sales contacts with sales staff, research customer needs necessary to develop technology solution in a timely manner.

•             Design end-to-end networks for the deployment of video, voice and data.

•             Build, Configure, and / or upgrade new or existing all system components in accordance with customer approved functional design requirements.

•             In conjunction with sales team, develop and deliver sales presentations.

•             Participate in sales forecasting and planning.

•             Provide input to development of new products with a focus on Professional Services.

•             Evaluate, train and support Sales Account Managers as required.

•             Assist clients with feasibility studies, equipment budgets, systems requirements and specifications.

•             Perform as equipment and technology specialist for Unified Collaboration Group.

•             Demonstrate technical writing responses and formal documentation in a written and graphic format.

•             Discuss videoconferencing and integration into Unified Communications technologies with a view to demonstrating their usefulness to current and potential customers.

•             Work effectively across cross-functional lines, in coordination with others involved in marketing, sales, logistics, and technical services.

•             Working knowledge of the concepts and principles of sales, marketing, proposal development, and customer service.



•             Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) and minimum of 5+ years’ experience designing and implementing IP based network equipment and/or software applications with a strong preference given to videoconferencing technology.

•             Advanced understanding of Polycom UC infrastructure design and implementation

•             Understanding of Lync integration into Polycom and Cisco UC environments

•             Experience with Cisco TelePresence deployment

•             Experience in a Professional Services or Consulting role including, business development, Return on Investment cost justification and C-Level Account Development.

•             Strong knowledge of IP protocols, switching/routing protocols and Firewall Traversal for H.323 and SIP video required.

•             Strong preference for candidates who hold current Cisco Collaboration, Cisco TelePresence, Cisco Digital Media, Polycom, and Microsoft Lync certifications video experience.

•             Hands-on experience with Polycom RPAD, DMA, RMX, RPONE, VBP, CloudAxis, Resource Manager, HDX, group series

•             Hands-on experience with Cisco VCS, UCM, TPS, MCU, TMS, Expressway, IM&P, CMR, Webex, AppSpace, DMP, C Series, MX Series, SX Series, EX series, DX Series

•             Polycom CVE required

•             Excellent analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
