Perform a variety of preservation, restoration, repair and continuous improvement functions on plant equipment and machinery with limited direction and guidance. Support manufacturing operations in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely fashion. Safely, professionally and efficiently, complete machine repairs and rebuilds.
Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize unscheduled downtime, improve operational efficiency and equipment life.
Assure that production equipment is capable of generating within the specifications and tolerances established by the equipment manufacturer.
Recommend improvements and/or changes to preventive maintenance systems or tasks when applicable. Suggest spare parts and suitable replacements when applicable.
Maintain all equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient working condition. Disassemble equipment, access problems, and reassemble in an expeditious manner.
Operate in response to requests by maintenance supervisor or support personnel and set priorities as required to maximize equipment uptime.
Maintain and update equipment, facility records and procedures such as equipment manuals, schematic drawings, and facility drawings.
Gather and maintain a complete set of required tools, including calipers, dial indicators, electrical meters and other diagnostic and measurement devices. Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to define problem areas and assist with resolution.
Utilize measurement devices to hold print tolerances and industry standards while performing machine repairs and assembly.
Maintain a sense of urgency, self-motivation and overall good work ethic while performing tasks in a safe manner.
Lead preventive maintenance or special project team assignments as directed/assigned.
Follow standard practices and all governmental regulations and laws relating to powered equipment.
Provide support to departmental personnel as workload dictates and other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and management.
Must have 5-10 years of CNC and manual production; vertical and horizontal mills, router, and lathe maintenance; troubleshooting and repair experience.
Demonstrated experience with various PLC systems and controls such as Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Siemens, etc. Experience with Haas machines is preferred.
Ability to demonstrate good communication skills with OEM machine parts and technical representatives, and production personnel.
Ability to demonstrate considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in CNC and mechanical machine diagnostics and repair, as well as building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
Must possess a strong “hands on” attitude and aptitude with full working knowledge of industrial electrical, electronic, PLC controls, computerized components, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components of CNC and manual machine tool equipment.
Strong abilities in detecting defects in equipment and making proper repairs; interpreting and working from sketches, diagrams and prints; and in the care and use of tools and equipment used in the trades involved.
Must be able to read and understand all diagrams and schematics and engineering print(s) of mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and service manuals.
Able to successfully apply same knowledge and aptitude to perform diagnostics (troubleshoot) and repair any given symptom or problem on production CNC and manual machine equipment.
Must be able to use electrical test equipment to identify, analyze and resolve problems related to electrical/electronic machinery and equipment and systems up to 480 volts.
Must possess basic fabrication techniques and working knowledge of power and hand tools and equipment used in the process of making machinery repairs.
Requires the knowledge of lockout/tag out procedures.
Ability to use proper safety protective equipment required. Occupational hazards and safety precautions knowledge is required and strict adherence to OSHA requirements is mandatory.
Must be able to distinguish between colors and lift at least 40 lbs.
Experience with understanding of the basic CNC programming format(s) and machining concepts is highly desired.
Must be knowledgeable in machine communication systems (RS-232).
