Accounting Supervisor

MANAGES:            Accounting Associate/Intern,  Staff Accountant  I, Staff Accountant  II, and Senior Accountant


FLSA STATUS:        Exempt




The  Supervisor  exhibits  technical  proficiency  and  supervises  engagements  from  start  to  finish with minimal input from managers and partners. Creates, interprets, and reviews complex financial statements and reports. Specializes in a specific area of accounting.  Familiarity with laws and regulations that apply to an accounting function are required to ensure compliance. Supervises two or more full-time equivalent employees.




The Supervisor performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:

•Ability to supervise preparation and review of financial statements and correspondence

•Exercises accounting control over a group of accountants within a specialize darea

•Develops,implements,andensurescompliancewithinternalfinancialandaccounting policiesandprocedures

•Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations

•Increase outside reading to stay current on business/economic events

•Provide on going relative information to staff, and/or individuals orentities outside of the firm; explain accounting transactions, resolve accounting issues and discrepancies

•Organize and prioritize and perform concurrent review of multiple engagements

•Make decisions on increasingly complex accounting,tax,andothermatters


Demonstrate critical thinking to complete work and solve problems efficiently
Trains and assists lower level staff

•Prepare and review complex tax returns and year-endplanning

•Identify tax planning ideas,techniques and opportunities

•Identify, draft, and interpret management letter comments

•Ability to communicate effectively with clients

•Responsible for budgets assigned to jobs


•Responsible for client billings and collections

•Starts to establish and retain own book of business

•Attend networking eventst of urther personal and professional growth
