Job Title: Civil Engineer - Storm Water Management / Drainage Specialist

Compensation: $85k-$110k 

Type: Full-Time, Direct hire (Hybrid)

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Civil Engineer with a specialization in storm water management and drainage systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing storm water infrastructure projects to ensure efficient water drainage and mitigate the risk of flooding in various environments. As a Storm Water Management / Drainage Specialist, you will collaborate with a team of professionals to develop innovative solutions and contribute to the overall success of our projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Storm Water Management Design: Develop comprehensive storm water management plans for various projects, including residential, commercial, and public infrastructure, to minimize flood risk and protect the environment.

  2. Drainage System Design: Design efficient and sustainable drainage systems, including storm sewers, culverts, retention basins, and other drainage structures, while adhering to local regulations and standards.

  3. Hydraulic and Hydrological Analysis: Perform hydraulic and hydrological studies to assess water flow patterns, runoff rates, and flood risk in different regions.

  4. Environmental Considerations: Integrate environmentally friendly and sustainable practices into storm water management designs to minimize the impact on ecosystems and natural habitats.

  5. Permitting and Compliance: Assist in obtaining necessary permits and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to storm water management and drainage systems.

  6. Project Management: Manage storm water management projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with various stakeholders.

  7. Quality Control and Assurance: Oversee the implementation of storm water management systems to ensure they meet engineering standards and project specifications.

  8. Technical Analysis and Problem-Solving: Conduct technical analyses and troubleshoot challenges related to storm water management and drainage projects.

  9. Construction Support: Collaborate with construction teams during the installation and inspection of storm water management systems to ensure proper implementation.

  10. Research and Innovation: Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to storm water management and drainage systems, and apply this knowledge to enhance project designs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience (X years) in storm water management and drainage system design.
  • In-depth knowledge of hydraulic and hydrological principles and modeling tools.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, SWMM).
  • Familiarity with local and national storm water management regulations and guidelines.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with green infrastructure and sustainable storm water management practices is a plus.
