Quality Systems Specialist

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 

This position requires broad knowledge in a technical field such as engineering, manufacturing or quality.  This position requires software aptitude, as such, requires understanding and use of software applications, such as TIP-QA, WDS (Western Data Systems), WARP (Worldwide Ammunitions-Data Repository Program), WAWF (Wide Area Work Flow) and other operational process applications deemed to perform this function.  Good oral and written communication skills and working knowledge of MS Office environment (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio). Prefer a minimum three years as a Certified ISO/AS Lead Auditor, with minimum 5 years in a quality role.  Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field required.  Prefer a SSBB (Six Sigma Black Belt) or capable of certification.  This position requires and understanding of commercial and Government standards, specifications and policy.  Minimum 3 years as a Certified ISO/AS Lead Auditor, with minimum 5 years in a quality field.

 

DUTIES:

  • Work under direction of the VP of Quality or designee with minimum supervision to lead and perform quality system audits and Product Process Audits for our client facilities (Middletown, CT, Orlando, FL and Colorado Springs, CO). 
  • Develop internal audit schedules, plans, lead audit team, write audit reports and follow up on audit responses and corrective actions. 
  • Perform follow up on any internal corrective actions to ensure root cause/corrective action has been addressed and ensure implementation prior to recommending closure. 
  • Serve as the primary Quality advisor to our client for all audits (internal and external).
  • Perform audits of all production cells processes. Present audit findings to Quality Director, Program Management, and customers, when applicable. 
  • Participate in customer audits when scheduled.  Monitor and control monthly presentations and input data.  Be the lead on any GIDEP (Government-Industry Data Exchange Program) releases. 
  • Manage, monitor and control internal standards, policy, and procedures as they relate to quality. 
  • Monitor and control internal processes, such as MIL-STD-1168 and MATL-017.

 

Duties and responsibilities include, and are not limited to:

Planning, scheduling, conducting, and reporting of process audits and Quality System audits. 
Review of data for various quality trending, methods, and system to determine area of focus and potential audits.
Support the Failure Review Board (FRB) as related to internal processes. 
Prepare presentations for PMR’s (Management Review) – Summary of audits performed, scheduled, and corrective actions.
Provide interpretation and consultation to teams on processes, policies and procedures.
Maintain accuracy of and train new employees on ISO9000/AS9100 requirements, and complete refresher training, as required.
Assist in the development and maintenance of procedures related to the Quality and Business System.
Be secondary and advisory to the Quality Specialist, including:
Generate shipping documents (e.g. certificates of conformance, ammunition cards, DD250 forms, etc.), prepare and submit configuration memos, as required, to meet program needs. Coordinate shipping activities with DCMA.  Familiarity with a variety of industry concepts, practices, and procedures.  Relies on extensive experience, judgment and reasonableness to plan and accomplish tasks and goals.  May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Ensure a high degree of neatness and accuracy when documents are prepared under severe time constraints.  Utilize associated software applications to enhance efficiency, devise standard formats for memos, charts, reports, notices and related items.  Ensure required information for meetings and presentations is accurate and complete.  Prepare data in a confidential and sensitive manner.  Assist supervision in the research and assembly of information as reference for meetings and presentation. 
Maintain good customer relations and be responsive to customer/company personnel needs, issues and concerns.
Assist in the preparation of proposals, presentations and other large document projects, as required.  Maintain effective liaison with other divisions, departments and personnel.  Maintain confidentiality; project professional demeanor.
