Hardware Production Lead

Job Summary: 

Supports all facets of low rate production of simulators and simulator modification kits.  This includes the coordination and may include the hands on execution of; shipping and receiving, inventory control, development of manufacturing processes, tracking of manufacturing activities, component assembly, inspection of in process and final components, and production documentation.  This position includes periodic input to and review of evolving engineering designs.

 

 

Essential Job Functions: 

Must be able to develop and execute manufacturing processes and standards.  Develop manufacturing plan and schedules in conjunction with the program design, test and fielding plans to ensure quality and timely product delivery. Identify staffing needs, supervise and support staffing through-out the production process. Define and execute program receiving, inventory, and shipping process within the corporation guidelines.  Identify, develop and track in process documentation (travelers) needed for all stages of product development, ensuring compliance with existing process and quality standards.  Must be capable of interaction with design staff at detailed level to provide manufacturability guidance to design team as well as support details design and bill of material reviews.

 

 

Required Skills:

  • Practical and demonstrated understanding of production processes.
  • Ability to develop required processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce hardware components from design documentation.
  • Ability to support hands-on production activity when needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and lead a team to achieve defined goals.
  • Experience in design and build of military manned simulators and simulator components.
  • Demonstrated understanding of hardware design principles to provide effective review of designs by others.
  • Ability to access/review/inspect CAD solid model designs (Solidworks preferred)
  • A thorough understanding of inventory systems including production work-in-process inventory and Government Furnished inventory.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Demonstrated 10 years’ experience in component manufacturing activity – preferably simulator related.
  • Demonstrated 10 years’ experience in mechanical design activity – preferably simulator related.
  • Demonstrated 10 years’ experience in a leadership position.
