Network Engineer

Growing government contracting company has multiple Network Engineering opportunities in Suitland, MD. Viable candidate need to have 10 years of experience. 

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include providing network and operations support for a large enterprise network.
Administer and support network management tools and ancillary support such as DHCP, DNS and NTP Services.
Working with the engineering team to successfully implement secure network solutions
Ability to  implement standardized routing and switching configuration and deployment in medium to very large environments
Assist clients through identification and descriptions of problems and provide solutions
Maintain comprehensive graphical and text-based design documentation and effectively manage the implementation process from design to customer acceptance
Work as part of a larger team, actively participating in supporting team goals and tracking work status for management.

 

Required Skills:

10+ years of experience with enterprise class Cisco routers and switches
Troubleshooting skills, including the ability to effectively utilize network systems management and monitoring tools such as the latest version of Cisco Prime and SolarWinds as well as experience providing and troubleshooting networking services such as DHCP, DNS and NTP.

Knowledge of switching, routing, wireless access and security.
Understanding of TCP/IP including layer 2/3 VLANs and familiarity with routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP and OSPF
Experience with VPN’s and other remote access applications
Ability to gather requirements and develop solutions to networking problems to meet the needs of the users.
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, including monthly reports.

Experience supporting network hardware including: CISCO ISR and ASR routers; Nexus switches, Catalyst switches, CISCO ASA firewalls and wireless controller.
Experience supporting infrastructure at large scale / enterprise class networks.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with team members and users.
Ability to consistently meet and exceed expectations and incorporate customer service into all aspects of work
Solid time management skills with the ability to plan, organize and implement multiple initiatives and deadline-driven workloads while consistently providing outstanding customer service
Detail-oriented, proactive self-starter demonstrating a positive, willing attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills
