The Plant Engineer is responsible for identifying, justifying, and executing projects that improve the facility, grounds, industrial equipment, machinery, transportation vehicles, plant systems, and other fixed assets. This position works with outside vendors and in-house engineering resources to implement improvements to fixed assets and processes as required, and assists in the specification of new equipment, and upgrades to older equipment. The Plant Engineer also assists in scheduling Maintenance Department skilled labor, and continuously drives efficiency improvements to Maintenance operations.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering
4 years manufacturing experience in an Engineering or Maintenance capacity.
Experience in machine design (preferred).
Fundamental electrical training.
Project Management experience.
Demonstrated competency in deploying continuous improvement tools including Lean in a manufacturing environment.
Familiar with safety and environmental regulations as they pertain to a manufacturing facility.
Reports to the Plant Engineering Manager
Monitors plant maintenance operations, provides trend analysis of events, targets potential intervention and improvements, develops justifications, and seeks agreement with involved parties before launching action.
Implements industrial/manufacturing/lean projects as assigned.
Assists with capital budgets, equipment selection and plant layout as assigned.
Participates in hands-on project work as required to evaluate design changes, and fully understand the impact on each process.
Becomes knowledgeable of all plant Production Machinery, Grounds and Facility.
Maintains the plant database for Production Machinery and Facility.
Develops resourcing plans and systems for sustainability in maintenance, safety & environmental programs.
