Growing Government Contractor looking to add a Linux Systems Engineer to their team.
System Engineering team in support of a large scale DOD Project providing a range of IT services across a global IT enterprise, to include IT infrastructure engineering support to design, development, test and deploy IT capabilities into the enterprise.
Candidates must be US citizens and will be required to undergo a background investigation in order to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Linux Systems Engineer – Responsible for developing security configurations and supporting procedures and methods necessary to ensure the safety of information systems and to protect the system from intentional (unauthorized) or accidental (inadvertent) access or destruction.
The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge on configuring and securing RHEL and must be well versed on the Linux platform with experience supporting Linux servers in enterprise environments.
The individual must be a Subject Matter Expert in Enterprise Linux, SE Linux, and KVM.
The individual will work with the engineering team to analyze risk, develop plans and documentation, and review project deliverables.
Must have experience with building and maintaining custom RHEL Linux system, writing custom shell scripts (BASH and Python). Strong experience with deploying and maintaining KVM virtual machines and networks. Experience with complex hardware/software integration and systems development.
Perform complex OS development and design reviews
Perform systems performance analysis
Review completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and make recommendations to improve reliability, security, and performance
Review documentation on new and existing systems
Develop and direct tests to ensure systems meet requirements
Identify, analyze, and resolve system issues
Provide system/specialized training and technical guidance
Participate in meetings to ensure client needs are met
Participate in special projects as needed
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
8-10 years of related systems engineering experience.
Linux RHEL 5 and 6
Development of scripts (shell/Python)
Redhat Certification (RHCE)
