Develop and design network architecture in accordance with IT strategy to support the facility and future member services.
Analyze new networking technology options and provide business cases for support of specific technology recommendations.
Support for the following technologies:
Cisco routing, switching, wireless and telephony
Firewall and circuit load balancing
Develop and design network infrastructure to include LAN, WAN, voice, wireless, streaming media, fault management, capacity planning and other network-related services. This is to include hardware, software and circuits.
Document all network infrastructures.
Implement new network architecture through individual engineering efforts and utilization of contract support.
Project manage integration efforts on time and within budget.
Project manage other IT projects that could be regarded as being on the periphery of typical networking skill sets, such as web hosting or ASP-oriented software implementation projects.
Develop computer network hardware solutions.
Consulting to our clients membership about networking solutions (10%).
All other duties as assigned.
Internal: Work closely with Operations Team and Manager of IT Ops to design, analyze, implement and troubleshoot network.
Members: Contact with membership regarding network solutions for about 10% of workload.
Outside: Contact with contractors.
Eight to ten years of progressive engineering experience in networking and telecommunications, including specific experience with TCP/IP networks, switches, routers and IP telephony systems.
Proven ability to analyze and make recommendations regarding technology direction and document those recommendations through business case analysis.
Proven ability to troubleshoot network outages at the WAN and LAN level, specifically with Cisco networking.
Proven project management skills overseeing vendors and adhering to strict timelines and budgets.
Ability to project manage technical projects that may be outside of candidate’s technical area of expertise.
Strong experience with network fault and capacity management systems.
Engineering experience with circuit design and fault tolerance.
Ability to work and effectively prioritize in a highly dynamic work environment.
Proven ability to communicate technical and network-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
Ability to work independently.
Microsoft networking MCSE is a plus but not required.
Cisco experience needed, Cisco certifications preferred.
F5 or Radware experience preferred.
Skilled in application and web hosting.
Application of systems analysis techniques, including consulting with the user to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications.
EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in computing and network engineering, including experience with Internet technology.
