Position Title: Field Technician Associate, Sonar Technician

Standard Job Description

Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies sonar related equipment. Performs maintenance and technical support for integrated systems and subsystems, hardware, and software at customer locations and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide on-site training of customer support personnel.

Specific Job Description

Provide technical services in support of, but not limited to, the following acoustic systems: AN/BSY-1, AN/BQQ-5, AN/BQQ-10 and USS Virginia Class sub-systems.  Field Technician Associate is responsible for the introduction of the latest technology to the US Navy Submarine Fleet. Provide technical support services following Lockheed Martin direction to complete Fleet/NAVSEA tasking including: system removal and installation, system software/hardware support, on-board troubleshooting (including fiber optic and system networking support), corrective maintenance actions, and on-board maintenance training. Work requires personnel to be on travel approximately 50% of the time.

The following skills are required:

  1. Journeyman level knowledge or better in Server Base Processors and Networks
  2. Must be a self-starter able to work independently with little supervision
  3. Possess excellent communication and writing skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
  4. Candidates must be U.S. citizens able to obtain and hold a Secret level security clearance

The following skills are highly desirable:

  1. Prefer a USN Submarine Sonar Technician with at least six years of experience across multiple platforms and systems or four year college degree in a related discipline.
  2. Operational, maintenance, and troubleshooting skills for a variety of platforms to include:  AN/┬ČBSY-1,  AN/BQQ-5, AN/BQQ-10 and USS Virginia Class sub-systems
  3. Fiber Optic Certification

Contract Term: 40 hours/week, onsite, 50% Travel
