Software Manger

Great Permanent Software Manger position in the Baltimore area.

 

The ideal candidate will be hands on utilizing the .NET framework (C#), in depth knowledge of Microsoft technologies.  The ideal candidate will also have experience with Entity Framework / nHibernate and transactional handling in ORMs and a strong understanding of MVC and other design patterns. Experience with high volume transactional systems is key. 

 

We need a team player to dive in and assist with defining the right architectural changes to allow our systems to grow with our pharmacies as we expand through the U.S. 

 

Responsibilities:

Supervise the projects and responsibilities of the Software Developers
Responsible for the prioritization of projects assigned to the Software Development team
Plan and run daily standup with developers to review burndown, identify critical path items, and work towards resolution of those items.
Assign, track and report status of all projects, as well as identify risk and proactively build, communicate and lead recovery actions.
Responsible for the integrity of the application development servers and related systems (i.e. databases)
Responsible for defining continuous improvement practices and change control processes for the development team
Provides ad-hoc reporting and decision support required for management decision processes.
Makes technology decisions that affect Software Development
Works with QA team to prioritize automated functional and unit test to grow CI environment.
Evolves automated build process to support additional nightly builds to various environments
Creates documentation of process flows and software architecture
Available for occasional after business hours and weekend work
Mentor the career development of each developer through personal and performance management.
Develops spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to support documentation needs
Attends conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency
Perform other related duties as assigned
Writes technical user stories for the development team
Troubleshoots procedures, system standards, and departmental documentation
Manage and coordinate the deployment of software enhancements and fixes per release schedules
Leads code reviews and tracks follow-ups.
Present technical leadership by being a hands on software development manager
Ability to work in a change controlled environment
Ability to use discretion when handling confidential information

Requirements

Experience with leading a team to deliver applications for highly available (24x7x365), mission critical systems.
Experience in Agile Methodology, Scrum, traditional project management
Strong understanding of object analysis design and programming in C#. 
Excellent attention to detail, decision-making, prioritization and self-managing skills
Strong ability to perform technical analysis / troubleshooting

Extensive knowledge and a minimum of 8 years of hands on experience with object-oriented development in C# / Java, SQL. 
Proven track-record of delivering productized and departmental solutions.
Full-life cycle experience on complex systems - requirements through production.
Experience using modeling, source code/configuration management and testing tools.
Experience with systems that have high transaction rates with large data volume.
Good interpersonal and team development skills
Able to stay focused and deliver results.
Knowledge of and operational experience in a health care related field a plus.
Knowledge of ITIL best practices
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with other technical staff, clients, and vendors
Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills

CSS3 / CSS frameworks
HTML5
Responsive design
MVC.NET, MVVM
ORM frameworks, Entity Framework / nHibernate
SQL Reporting
MSSQL scripting
Interface engines such as Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Interfaceware a plus

Experience / Education / Certifications:

BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
5 (Manager) plus years of experience managing application development
ITIL / CSM formal training/certification a plus
