Sr. Staff Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for the review and accounting preparation of daily activity including the review and posting of T&E invoices & trade payables and document support services for billing to our various funders. This also includes general accounting services support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs accounting and related technical services:

Full cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing
Completes credit card reconciliations.
Audits and posts T&E reimbursements on a daily basis.
Monitors and tracks all bank account activity in support of bank reconciliations.
Daily bank deposit responsibilities.
Provides documentation scanning support for billing of funders.
Ensure the proper tracking and recording of financial activities.
Supports month end and year end close processes.
Processes general ledger reconciliation and journal entries.
Prepares schedules in support of interim financial statements.
Assists in the preparations of year-end and any other audits.
Performs ad-hoc reports as needed and additional duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES

Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
Understanding of not for profit accounting principles.
Experience working with Great Plains software.
Comfortable with utilizing technology to improve process or eliminate redundancy.
Must be able to prioritize, organize and manage multiple tasks.
Has demonstrated skills in problem solving, confidentiality, and judgment.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Highly skilled with the Microsoft Office suite of products – primarily Excel.
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to excellence. 
Ability to be flexible in a fast paced environment.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to request additional information when necessary.
